Ok, this hot chocolate is a serious adult drink. It’s strong, deep and spicy. There is something about this drink which makes you feel really good, joyful and inspired. It must some kind of magic combination of cacao and spices which does the trick.
I like to enjoy it as a pick me up drink in the afternoon, energising pre-exercise snack or a satisfying dessert. It’s also a great substitution for coffee, because it won’t get you overexcited but still gives you the little buzz that you are longing for.
Another great thing is that this drink is actually VERY good for you!
Thanks to ginger and cinnamon it helps you digestion and boosts your immune system. Also it warms you up and helps you deal with a cold. The cacao is almost like a magical plant! It provides your body with antioxidants and other important minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc, iron and manganese – which helps iron in formation of hemoglobin. Manganese is also concentrated in tears – fun fact!
Also, it makes you feel more energetic, improves your memory, increases focus and concentration. Plus, cacao it contains two magical substances: serotonim – the stress fighter and phenylethylamine (PEA) – which our body produces when we are in love. What do I need?
2 cups of rice or oat milk
3-4 TBSP of cacao powder
0,5 tsp of ginger powder and cinnamon
pinch of vanilla and cinnamon
20 g of very dark chocolate – 85 or 90 % cacao (2 big squares in a chocolate bar)
honey, coconut cream – optional
What do I do?
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and heat it up. Make a foam with a milk foamer if you like it. Add some coconut cream and honey if desired. Serve immediately.
